Appointment and Tenure

The Governor of Rajasthan is appointed by the President of India, acting on the advice of the Union Government. The tenure of the Governor is typically five years, but it can be extended or shortened at the discretion of the President. While the Governor is technically appointed by the President, the decision is often influenced by various factors, including political considerations and the individual's qualifications.

Role in Emergency Situations

In emergency situations, the Governor plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order within the state. The Governor can:

 * Impose President's Rule: In cases of breakdown of law and order or failure of the state government to function effectively, the Governor can recommend to the President the imposition of President's Rule. This involves the suspension of the state government and the assumption of administrative control by the Union government.
